Mother's day is just around the corner. Why not give the Mom in your life something special, unique and handmade, while at the same time supporting a local artist, maker or business. Now more than ever artists and small businesses need us to choose them over big brand options. You can make this Mother's Day extra special by shopping small and locally. Give Mom something that no one else has, something with meaning and a sense of place.

I love nothing better than endorsing my fellow Island Artists, Makers and Shakers. They are my inspiration, my community and my friends. I love what they do and I think you will too. That's why I created this San Juan Island Mother's day Gift Guide, so you can win Mother's Day and feel great about yourself for supporting the Island Artists at the same time. Two for one!

Alisha Merrick is an Island artist in every way. She makes jewelry, designs spaces, she draws, she paints and she puts her beautiful art on these gorgeous scarves!

My favorite is the Flower Garden scarf.

A blend of 60% cotton, 20% linen, and 20% modal. Digitally printed from a detail of her watercolor painting Flower Garden.

This one is especially great for spring and summer but can be worn all year.

Mom's love scarves! She has one for every season, check them out!

You really can't claim to be an islander if you don't own an iconic piece by Paula West. I happily drink my coffee from her mugs every single day! She lives just down the road, and has been making all of her gorgeous creations out of her home studio for 25 years.

She just created these gorgeous blue bud vases just for Mother's day!

You can never, every go wrong with flowers, and if you up your gift game with an original Paula West Bud Vase, you will win Mother's Day for sure.

Debbie Pigman and I have been selling art side by side at markets for years! She is a fellow Roche Harbor Village Artist and has a stunning array of talents. Some of my favorite Debbie creations are her Leather and Mixed Metal Bracelets. They are available in so many styles and colors, you are sure to find one that is perfect for mom.

And, guess what else, Shipping is FREE through May 15, 2020!

Lisa Lamaroreux is another fellow Roche Harbor artist. She uses mixed media to create beautifully textured paintings often inspired by the nature of the San Juan Islands.

Her hand embellished reproductions have the look and feel of originals, each one a unique creation. These are the perfect gift for your nature loving mom.

She is generously offering 20% her entire site for Mother's Day!

Heather has been teaching yoga and movement on the island for several years now, but recently she opened ALTAR movement studio: Where movement unites with ritual.

She now offers online streaming so you can give the gift of WHOLE SELF HEALTH to that beautiful women in your life.

They have an array of classes every week to choose from::  hatha yoga, functional movement, pilates fusion, restorative yoga, vinyasa flow and strength based practices.

What mom doesn't want to experience radiant health and vitality?

You may not think of underwear as art, but when you wear Tush and Bush you will change your mind. Addie Miller is a San Juan Native and her super soft, super comfortable designs are an essential part of every Island gal's wardrobe.

Why compromise comfort for style, when you can have both? Tush and Bush is a body-centric brand. Literally embracing the female body in all its glory regardless of size, age, and shape. Super soft fabrics caress the skin, in colors and prints that will send you swooning.

We think your mom will agree, these are not your regular underwear!

Last but not least, nothing says Love like a Heart. Beaded heart necklaces are a sweet way to tell the mom in your life how much you love her. Now designed with a little Keshi black pearl from Tahiti, to symbolize the greatest mother of all: Mother Earth.

These are available as Necklaces or Bracelets, with our without the pearl, so you can make it custom just for mom.

Order yours now and get it just in time for Mother's Day!

It’s a new moon today in the sign of Taurus! New moons mark the beginning of a new lunar cycle, which is a great time for starting over and setting intentions. Who couldn’t use a little fresh start about now, right?

Most of us are at home these days and this particular new moon energy is a perfect for freshening up and beautifying your space! Taurus rules our senses, our appreciation for beauty as well as our feelings of comfort and coziness. Today - and over the next several days - is a lovely time to set some intentions about the space you are in, wherever that may be. When your inner sense of beauty is reflected in the space around you it brings you a feeling harmony and well-being.

Taurus also rules abundance and indulgence…two of my favorite things, ha! Of course, both can be ether positive or negative if out of balance. But please! Give yourself permission today to indulge in something that may feel off limits during normal life. Like this chocolate croissant I am eating right now… normally a VERY rare treat, but in this moment, feels like such a gift to myself!

Lastly, Taurus rules the EARTH! And no coincidence that today is Earth Day. If you have the ability to go outside, consider planting some seeds over the next few days. Connect with the Earth in whatever way you can. If that is unavailable, plant some Intention seeds. This morning I did a little ceremony, where I collected a few things: stones, shells, flowers… each representing my intentions and hopes for the next 28 days. Then I buried them in the sand. You can do this too!

Plant your hopes for the future and the well-being of our planet and ourselves. The earth is craving our good thoughts and positive intentions right now.

If all of this feels to woo for you, I get it! Perhaps consider lighting a scented candle, make your favorite tea, sit for a few moments and enjoy the simplicity of the moment:)

We all know that the world is not currently functioning normally right now! Unfortunately, shipping is no exception! Here are the current shipping options:

  • READY TO SHIP: This means the item you want is ready to ship within one to two business days. If you order on a Wednesday, it will ship no later than Friday. Depending on the shipping you choose, that means your item will ship from Washington State and arrive in less than a week! SHOP READY TO SHIP!

  • SHIPPING DELAYED: This means the item you want is currently with me in Mexico. As of writing this blog post, I am unable to ship anything from for the time being. But I am currently working on solutions. Therefore, you will receive your item when I can either resume shipping from Mexico, or I return to the US and ship from there. I estimate a window of 2-4 weeks. Most of these items are brand new! SHOP NEW ITEMS!

  • MADE TO ORDER: This means that your desired item has not been made yet! Depending on the item, it will ship from Washington State or from Mexico. I estimate 2-6 weeks for delivery. SHOP MADE TO ORDER!

Exceptions? Possibly! If you need something sooner, faster, or extra in any way please just ask!

I love a challenge, and you never know what might be possible!

Phone: 360-320-6604

I mean... even if you just want to chat? I'm just hanging out at home like everyone else!

Take care of yourselves out there!
